Clarity is a form of support
When someone on your team is struggling, it’s natural to ask whether they need more training, more time, or more motivation. Sometimes what they need most is a clearer picture of success.
People do better work when they understand what matters most, what decisions they can make, and when to ask for help. Without that clarity, even a capable person can spend the week second-guessing their next step.
This week, think about an expectation you’ve communicated to your team. Could someone explain what success looks like in their own words? If the answer is uncertain, that’s an opportunity to have a conversation.
Try this: In your next check-in, ask, “What feels clear about this priority, and what still feels uncertain?” Then agree on the outcome, the next step, and when you’ll reconnect.
Clarity doesn’t remove every challenge. It gives people a stronger place to start.
